The Vice President of Audiology is a member of Oticon’s executive team and reports to the President of Oticon, Inc.  He/she will drive overall business strategy and will be responsible for the strategic and financial goals of the company.  This person will lead Oticon’s audiological vision and strategic direction, and will establish short-term and long-term objectives aligned with the overall company vision in a changing and competitive marketplace. He/she is responsible to maintain and grow Oticon’s position as a thought leader in the areas of Audiology and Technology in the eyes of the hearing care professional community.



  • Participate in setting the strategy and direction for development of positioning and messaging for Oticon products and other audiological initiatives that drive differentiation in the marketplace and are aligned with high level strategic goals of the business. Reviews, analyzes and trains on Oticon technologies compared to competitor approaches
  • Develop audiological educational content that establishes Oticon as a leader in innovative products, software and patient care strategies in the eyes of professionals and students.
  • Develop staff training content that allows for clear differentiation of Oticon in a cluttered-communication marketplace.
  • Create and leverage opportunities to cooperate with WDH partners, other commercial partners, research organizations and the professional community in general to further the image and impact of Oticon.
  • Responsible for the development and growth of the Oticon product portfolio and the attainment of revenue targets for new and existing product lines.
  • Develop and manage audiological budget to support company-wide initiatives.



  • Lead and direct the US Audiology function across the company to deliver against agreed upon goals and objectives.
  • Be a strong change agent with clarity, passion & enthusiasm to strengthen teams, structure, and culture and advance the thought leadership position of Oticon across the organization.
  • Drive the development of a knowledge-based approach to educate and support our customers and other professionals in the field.
  • Oversight of training material content in support of product launches, planned and ad hoc staff support on product and technology concepts, development of electronic and printed Audiological support material; provides staff and customer training on new products and audiological concepts
  • Plans and executes US-based clinical studies
  • Build a forum with on-going communication in the professional community via written papers, oral presentations at independent and Oticon-sponsored seminars and other professional venues, and other high level professional discussion opportunities.
  • Prepare all relevant staff to reactively and proactively meet challenges to Oticon products and initiatives by competitors.
  • Ensure compliance and adherence with FDA and ISO requirements across the commercial organization and regulatory claims approval of all marketing and training material
  • Work closely with thought-leaders of other professional organizations across the hearing aid industry to help shape overall legislative policy via the Hearing Industries Association (trade organization).



  • Partner with KBN Innovation/R&D leadership to influence the development of the product roadmap, written material and software consistent with the needs of the US and other highly professional audiological markets.
  • Drive and support cross-function collaboration between the marketing, sales, audiology, learning and development and customer experience teams to ensure the highest level of staff preparation concerning Oticon products and audiological viewpoints.
  • Interact with the thought leadership community in the field of Audiology to continually promote the Oticon vision.
  • Build and maintain strong partnerships with customers, partners, vendors and agency stakeholders.
  • Overall responsibility to drive the Oticon University Program, an outreach and educational program specifically targeted towards graduate students in Audiology.
  • Continually communicate the progress against our strategy to multiple stakeholders including Oticon Inc. and WDH management.
  • May perform miscellaneous tasks/projects as directed by manager.



  • The position requires an advanced degree in Audiology, PhD preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years relevant clinical and research experience.
  • Experience with a healthcare/medical device company preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively lead and manage in a highly competitive and challenging global environment and across a complex matrix organization.
  • Strong planning and analytical skills and experience integrating a strategic vision into an operational model.
  • Proven ability to select, hire and develop a high performing team; strong ability to coach, counsel and direct employee development.
  • The ability to manage multiple, complex priorities within demanding timeframes.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and presentation skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire others.
  • Exceptional knowledge of applicable local, state and national regulatory agency guidelines, including FDA.
