This critical role will develop the project management office within Demant – leading and managing the overall portfolio of projects, scoping future opportunities, and working closely as the bridge between Leadership and project teams to ensure project progression in line with timeline, scope and budget objectives. The professional should be well-versed in project management methodologies, to deep dive in strategic projects where needed, and over time, build the project management capability in the organization through coaching and formal training.

Responsibilities

  • As a program manager, being the owner of the project portfolio at Demant – ensuring completeness against Demant’s current and future strategy, bringing awareness of interdependencies, and managing cross-project impacts.
  • Based on opportunities raised, modelling the high-level business case to determine need for detailed understanding and potential investment.
  • Initiating projects, confirming feasibility and establishing budgets, teams and resources.
  • Leading and motivating project teams from both internal and external stakeholder organizations, developing project management capabilities throughout the company through trainings and on-the-spot coaching.
  • Guaranteeing standardized reporting to Leadership in US and Canada across projects, and managing a weekly governance to monitor overall progress in each project against scope, team, timeline and budget, implementing course-correcting actions where required.
  • Selecting and engaging with third-party vendors where required to meet immediate needs within projects.
  • Stepping into the project manager role in particular projects, due to complexity, strategic importance or need for reversion:
    • Ensuring an appropriate project infrastructure is in place; team, tools, and governance
    • Project planning - including setting goals and objectives, defining roles and developing detailed timelines.
    • Driving the weekly drumbeat of the project through an appropriate governance structure, and reporting out to Demant Leadership on project progress.
    • Managing project risks, developing and guaranteeing mitigation and contingency plans.
  • Provide insight and knowledge about the business and industry in order to influence leaders on changes, revision or priorities made to roadmap
  • Educate leaders throughout the organization on structure and discipline in managing projects
  • Present a strong sense of business acumen to effectively consult on commercial opportunities
  • Tenacity in pushing projects forward
  • Analytical approach to determining right project investments to yield favorable ROI
  • May perform miscellaneous tasks/projects as directed by manager

Qualifications

  • MBA preferred
  • Required 8 years’ experience in managing projects or in a project management role 
  • 5 years’ experience in directly managing and developing a team
  • Experience in working with insurance or managed care preferred
  • Demonstrated analytical and critical thinking ability– can conduct root cause analysis; make a recommendation understanding impacts and drive decision and implementation to support business strategies.
  • Builds trust through personal credibility and creates mutual respect through words and actions. Consistently offers quality advice, counsel and insight.
  • Proven track record of working with Change Management.
  • Drives self and others in continuous improvement activities and demonstrates innovative solutions.
  • Proven ability to lead and influence others within all levels of the organization.
  • High ethical standards and personal integrity demonstrated by individual’s approach to business and ability to set tone for team and organization.
