Overview

The Senior Manager of Field Training is responsible for executing customer training delivery that helps position Oticon as a leader in the hearing healthcare industry. This individual oversees a team of field trainers to deliver engaging, informative and timely training sessions that educate our customers on Oticon products and technology. In addition, the Senior Manager of Field Training will collaborate closely with the Regional Managers and Sales Leadership to ensure that training resources are leveraged strategically to maximize their impact in each region.

The ideal candidate is someone with advanced skills in training delivery and large group presentations, and who can collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders. Due to the large number of direct reports, this individual must also be highly organized and can effectively flex his/her management style to coach, motivate and lead each team member.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of 8 field trainers, prioritizing efforts in line with Oticon’s Learning and Development strategy.  Oversee talent development and retention efforts for the field training team.
  • Work with Associate Director of Learning Design, Head of Audiology and other stakeholders (e.g. Product Management, Strategic Partners) to create new presentations, or customize existing presentations that field trainers will use in training customers on new and existing products. Conduct Train-the-Trainer sessions to educate trainers on the best way to convey the Oticon story in their presentations.
  • Personally deliver presentations at local, regional, online and national training/seminars and conferences.
  • Conduct ride-alongs with each field trainer twice a year to provide coaching on presentation skills and audiological/product knowledge.
  • Partner with Regional Managers on territory planning for the field trainers that aligns with each region’s needs.
  • Develop metrics that help to evaluate trainer effectiveness in delivery, and monitor each trainer’s quality, quantity and qualification of customer visits. Use the data gathered for coaching opportunities.
  • Audit training programs in the field to measure effectiveness and evaluate quality control. Provide feedback and recommendations for improvements.
  • Extensive travel (up to 80%) required to participate in internal/external workshops and seminars to support the field trainers.
  • Manage Oticon’s University Program. This includes recommending university curriculum, partnering with the Associate Director of Learning Design to create FDA approved presentation materials and prioritizing university visits so that Oticon can maximum its impact with the available trainer resources.
  • Partner with Meetings and Events to plan and execute Oticon’s annual university programs, including summer camp and the virtual student summit.
  • Partner with Marketing to develop and implement ongoing social media and outreach activities to nurture and grow student leads.
  • Communicate with customers and Oticon staff within the following standards:
  • Voice-mail and E-mail returned within 2 business days.
  • Expense reports and special information requests sent within guidelines outlined in the company’s T&E policy.
  • Ride-along reports submitted within 7 business days.

Qualifications

  • Audiologist with 5+ years’ experience and a strong clinical background in hearing aid dispensing.
  • 5+ years of experience in Account Management and/or Field Training role, preferably within Oticon.
  • Proven experience with public speaking and able to confidently present to large groups.            
  • Familiarity with and practical experience in using sales frameworks to drive sales excellence.         
  • Able to apply sales techniques to a training environment.            
  • Possesses a broad and comprehensive knowledge of Oticon products, audiological philosophy and supporting evidence. 
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills. Able to communicate effectively at all levels inside and outside the organization.    
  • Solid organizational, planning and project management skills.   
  • 3+ years of leadership and collaborative people management skills.  
  • Hands-on, high-energy and willingness to do what it takes to get the job done.
